Work environment

The successful candidates will work in one of two areas: Within the Program Management or Treaty divisions of DFO’s Indigenous Affairs Directorate (IAD). IAD is located in the Department’s Ecosystems and Oceans Science Sector in Ottawa. The position involves interacting with regional branches, other DFO sectors Indigenous groups, other federal departments, and stakeholders in support of the delivery of grants and contributions project funding agreements and the coordination of activities and projects related to the contribution programs. Responsibilities will also include tasks which support departmental-level reporting such as those related to service standards, contribution and program spending and performance reporting and outreach through electronic communication (such as web site, emails, bulletins).

A pool of fully and/or partially qualified candidates may be established and used to fill identical or similar positions with various language requirements, security requirements and tenures within Fisheries and Oceans Canada or other departments.

• A secondary School Diploma, or employer-approved alternative.

- An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

► EXPERIENCE:
• Experience coordinating and analyzing program or project information to summarize key findings for management*.
• Experience coordinating collaborative work with internal or external partners or stakeholders.
• Experience using Microsoft Excel, including creating spreadsheets, tables and formulas.

* Management is defined as supervisor and above.

► EXPERIENCE:
• Experience using electronic systems such as SAP or salary management systems and management reporting systems such as Abacus, SMIS, or MRS.
• Experience in assisting in the development and/or review of contribution agreements, grants or other funding agreements for external clients and organizations.
• Experience in administering and maintaining databases.
• Experience in providing administrative support related to financial management including forecasting expenditures, tracking and reporting.
