Intent of the process

This process will establish a pool of partially or fully qualified candidates that may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures within PSPC at the following locations: Calgary (Alberta), Edmonton (Alberta), Regina (Saskatchewan), Saskatoon (Saskatchewan) Vancouver (British Columbia), Victoria (British Columbia), Whitehorse (Yukon), Winnipeg (Manitoba) and Yellowknife (Northwest Territories).

- A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

- College Diploma or Certificate from a recognized institution with an acceptable specialization in office administration or in another field relevant to the position to be staffed such as Human Resources, Business, Finance, Communications etc.

Asset Experience
- Experience performing accounts payable or accounts receivable related tasks such as preparing purchase orders or contracts, budget tracking/forecasting, experience issuing and/or paying invoices.
- Experience coordinating meetings and/or workshops such as organizing meeting logistics, agenda creation, taking records of decisions/meeting minutes, tracking action items etc.
- Experience providing administrative support in a Human Resources environment
- Experience planning and organizing work related travel arrangements and/or processing travel claims.
- Experience in delivering training or information sessions.
- Experience using advanced functions of videoconferencing tools (such as MS Teams, Zoom, WebEx).
- Experience using SharePoint and/or Systems Applications and Products (SAP).
- *Recent experience as an administrative assistant or executive assistant within an executive or senior manager office.
- Experience managing correspondence and confidential information.
- Experience in supervision.

Conditions of employment

The selection board may, at any point during the selection process, use random selection.

It is not enough to indicate that you meet the qualifications or to provide a list of past or current responsibilities rather, you must indicate how, when and where you acquired these qualifications by providing concrete examples. On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.

As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring. Should you reach the point in the selection process where it is necessary to verify terms and conditions of employment then the hiring manager or a human resources representative will contact you in order to complete an attestation.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
