Our offices are in the Sir William Logan Building at 580 Booth Street in Ottawa’s Little Italy neighbourhood, steps away from Dow’s Lake, the Rideau Canal, the Arboretum and Preston Street. Lunch time walks or runs, skating in the winter, lunches or after work gatherings at wide variety of eateries and/or pubs offer quality of life additions to busy workdays. The Sir William Logan Building is also close to the O-Train and major bus routes. For the time being our employees at working from home and discussions regarding the future of work and hybrid models are being discussed.
A pool of qualified candidates will be established from this process which may be used to staff similar positions at Natural Resources Canada across Canada, with tenures (i.e. Indeterminate, Term, Acting, Deployment, Assignment) and/or with language requirements/profiles (i.e. English Essential, Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB; Bilingual Imperative CBC/CBC; Bilingual Imperative CCC/CCC) and/or with security requirements (i.e. Reliability, Secret, Top Secret) which may vary according to the position to be staffed.

Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering, geological engineering, naval architecture or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
Experience:
· Significant* experience in defining system requirements and system interfaces
· Experience in contract management, including writing and keeping up-to-date formal contract documentation
· Significant* and Recent* experience in leading the planning, implementation, management and formal documentation of engineering or research projects
· Experience in negotiation and writing agreements and obtaining final approval from senior management*
· Experience in working with stakeholders – (internal and/or external to government {for example, industry, academia, clients, research centers, international governments}) on technical and/or programmatic issues and/or projects
*Significant experience is defined as experience acquired over a period of approximately 5 years
*Recent experience is defined as experience acquired in the last 5 years.
*Senior management is defined as Director-level and above.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Education
· Graduate degree in a relevant field (e.g. MEng, MBA, MSc, etc.)
Experience:
· Designing , implementing , testing, operating or working with any of:
o satellite communication systems
o satellite ground segment systems including multiple interfaced systems
o network and system security
o network and system analysis and optimization
o Cloud architectures
· Delivering Orbital analysis
