The CCG proudly serves 243,000 kilometres of Canada’s vast and rugged coastline, the longest coastline of any given country, and is one of the few federal agencies that provides direct, front-line services 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Early services, consisting of patrol vessels, appearing along the eastern seaboard and in the Great Lakes in the 1800s, have developed into a modern and impressive list.

The intent is to staff the position of Director General, Integrated Technical Services within the Canadian Coast Guard. ➤ EDUCATION:
‣ Graduation with a degree (1*) from a recognized post-secondary institution (2*).
Definitions as per the Qualification standards for employment in the core public administration:
1*: Unless it is otherwise specified (e.g., Master’s degree), the term “degree” refers to a baccalaureate as established by educational authorities.
2*: A public or private institution that has been given authority to grant degrees, diplomas, and other credentials by a public or private act of a provincial/territorial legislature or through a government-mandated quality assurance mechanism. For greater certainty, also included are institutions authorized to grant specific academic credentials for specific academic programs.
➤ EXPERIENCE :
EX1: Recent (1*) and significant (2*) experience, at the executive level, in setting the strategic vision for and leading the life cycle management of a complex (3*) asset portfolio.
EX2: Significant (2*) experience in forging strategic alliances and establishing partnerships and effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders towards the accomplishment of organizational objectives.
EX3: Significant (2*) experience in providing strategic advice and making comprehensive recommendations to senior management on complex (3*) asset management issues.
EX4: Significant (2*) experience in managing human (4*) and financial resources (5*).
Definitions:
1*: Recent experience is defined as experience normally acquired within the last five (5) years.
2*: Significant experience is understood to mean the depth and breadth of the experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of complex related activities over a period of at least three (3) years.
3*: Complex is define as having at least one (1) of the following characteristics: high dollar value, multidimensional, sensitive, confidential, affecting many partners or stakeholders, precedent setting or having a major impact on the public service, or having a potential for significant media coverage.
4*: The candidate must clearly demonstrate that he or she has managed human resources and indicate the number of staff he or she supervised (direct and indirect reports). Some examples of managing human resources may include assigning work, managing performance, developing resourcing plans, determining needs, approving training, managing labour relations issues, etc.
5*: The candidate must clearly demonstrate that he or she has managed financial resources and indicate the size of the budget(s).

‣ Project Management Certification.

‣ Experience managing marine related assets.
