Employment Equity contributes to a strong and sustainable Public Service by ensuring the workforce reflects the rich diversity of Canada’s population. At the Canadian Coast Guard we value and celebrate the contributions of a representative workforce to the achievement of the Coast Guard’s objectives. A workforce where diversity of thought, culture, ethnicity, age, gender orientation and experiences are considered as invaluable assets allowing the Coast Guard to meet new challenges, fuel innovation, help create prosperity and make positive impacts in the workplace and for the Canadians we serve. We value the inclusion of all people including members of the LGBTQ2+ community and the four Employment Equity Groups and we encourage you to apply for this opportunity if you believe you are qualified.
When submitting an application to this selection process you will be prompted to answer screening questions concerning the essential education and experience questions as well as the other experience qualifications. It is your responsibility to provide clear and concrete examples in your response to each question, including when (from-to), where (occupational title, organization) and how you obtained your education and experience. It is recommended that you describe the examples for experience in specific terms by providing sufficient details of the situation/task, the action you took, what you accomplished, and what you learned thus allowing the Assessment Board to fairly assess your candidature. Content of your response must be supported by your curriculum vitae (CV) or résumé as your responses to these questions will be used as a primary source of information and your CV/ résumé will only be used to validate this information. Should you indicate in your response "please refer to CV/ résumé" your application will be rejected. Lack of examples and details will result in your application being rejected as the Assessment Board will have insufficient information to determine if the requirement is met.

Information on employment equity
On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.
As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring. Should you reach the point in the selection process where it is necessary to verify terms and conditions of employment then the hiring manager or a human resources representative will contact you in order to complete an attestation.
Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
Information on the preference to veterans
We thank all those who apply. Only those selected for further consideration will be contacted.
