Intent of the process

The intent of this selection process is to staff PM-06 indeterminate positions at Public Safety Canada.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established to staff identical or similar positions within Public Safety Canada across Canada with various tenures (specified period or indeterminate) and various linguistic profiles (Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC or English essential) and various security requirements (secret or top secret).

EDUCATION
A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives.

Note:
The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
- A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
- An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
- Experience* conducting analytical work and writing strategic reports and documents for decision making purposes.
- Experience* providing written and verbal briefings, advice and recommendations for Senior Management**.
- Experience* in building and sustaining partnerships with stakeholders (such as government departments, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), international, provincial/territorial, indigenous or municipal stakeholders).
- Experience* in supervising a team.
- Experience* in managing complex files and strategic issues in a governmental environment.

* Experience will be evaluated in terms of length, complexity and diversity of work experience that was a core part of the candidate’s employment and would have normally been obtained during a period of three (3) years.

** Senior management is defined as director level and above.

- Experience* in the management of grants and contributions
- Experience* in leading emergency preparedness, response and/or recovery operations.
- Experience* in chairing meetings and leading multi-disciplinary working groups
- Experience* in a Federal, Provincial, Territorial or Municipal Operations Centre
- Experience* in developing policies or delivering programs related to emergency management, national security, countering crime or other related areas
