Duties

The Production Superintendent plays a vital role in the management of facilities, and infrastructure maintenance and repairs within the Department of National Defense (DND).

In this role, you will be expected to organize, develop and manage the implementation of operational plans related to the maintenance and repair of DND facilities and infrastructure. You will be required to direct and supervise multi-trade teams as well as manage the budgets for labour, materials, equipment, etc. You must have a sound knowledge of Federal, Provincial and Municipal acts, regulations, policies and codes with regards to facilities and infrastructure maintenance. The ability to read, interpret and develop blueprints, drawings and specifications are essential as you will be required to provide technical advice, reports and briefings to management.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
◾ Possession of a valid Red Seal, provincial journeyperson certificate, or Military Qualification QL6/DP3 in one of the construction/engineering trades*;
OR
◾ A diploma as an engineering technologist/technician in a related building construction field;
OR
◾ Completion of an undergraduate degree in Engineering or Applied Science from an accredited university program or other academic or technical institution recognized by Engineers Canada.

EXPERIENCE:
◾ Experience in managing a preventative maintenance program.
◾ Experience in multidisciplinary* supervision.
◾ Experience in planning, estimating or supervising construction industry work with a high degree of complexity.
◾ Experience in human resource administration (performance management, employee leave management)
◾ Experience in financial management (monitoring, allocating and managing funds)
◾ Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word and Excel).

*Multi-displinary includes trades such as electricians, plumbers, structural technicians, roads and grounds maintenance, snow removal, and pipefitting.

◾ Member of NBSCETT (New Brunswick Society of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists)

ASSET EXPERIENCE:
◾ Experience providing customer service before and after purchase including quality assurance and control.
◾ Experience in reviewing funds with the Defense Resource Management Information System (DRMIS).
◾ Experience working with Labor Laws and Environmental Laws
◾ Experience managing subordinates leave with the Phoenix Pay System.
◾ Experience supervising in a unionized environment and applying a collective agreement.
◾ Experience in developing project work schedules through the use of computer software (i.e. to show schedules of multi­discipline/multi-trade projects, such as Excel or Microsoft Project).
◾ Experience working or volunteering in a mixed military and civilian environment.
