Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

Notes:
1. Indeterminate incumbents in the IT group on December 9, 2021 who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the IT group.

Degree equivalency

Significant* and recent** experience in providing technical informatics support services such as installing, configuring, maintenance, and troubleshooting hardware components and software in an organizational or enterprise environment;

Significant* and recent** experience analyzing client’s IT needs in order to provide options and recommendations;

Significant* and recent** experience in planning, prioritizing and applying practical solutions to technical problems;

Experience of use of IT Service Management (ITSM) tools in support of IT Services.

*Significant is defined as is defined as the depth and breadth of experience associated with having performed a broad range of activities in the listed areas usually over a 2 year period.
** Recent experience is defined as experience that has been obtained within the last five (5) years.

A bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with specialization in Computer Sciences, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or any other field relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

Successful completion of recognized industry and professional certifications in the IM/IT field relevant to IT Support Analyst or IT Security Analyst positions.

Completion of the Communications Security Establishment’s (CSE) IT Security courses or in possession of CSE IT Security certifications.

Recent* experience in implementation and administration of information systems or enterprise computing infrastructure.

Recent* experience working or collaborating with stakeholders on IT projects or initiatives.

Recent* experience in interpreting and providing advice on operational policies and procedures.

Recent* experience in the maintenance or support IT systems in an environment mission setting.

Recent* experience working in a governmental department or agency.

Experience working OR studying abroad.

Experience volunteering in a diverse environment.

ITIL 4 Foundations certification.

ABSENCES DURING THE SELECTION PROCESS: It is the responsibility of the candidate to notify the IT-02 external process generic mailbox of any absences throughout the duration of the selection process in order to facilitate scheduling of evaluations. Also, only one alternate date will be offered to the candidate if requested for the following exceptional reasons:

1) Medical reasons with doctor’s certificate.
2) Death in your immediate family.
3) Confirmation of pre-approved travel or training plans (made
before the advertisement posting date).
4) Religious reasons.

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service. As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring. Should you reach the point in the selection process where it is necessary to verify terms and conditions of employment then the hiring manager or a human resources representative will contact you in order to complete an attestation.
