Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a biological science.
- Experience in providing advice to colleagues and managers in the area of forest entomology, forest pathology, or forest biology.
- Experience in researching and reviewing scientific literature.
- Experience in presenting data and information via presentations at meetings, workshops or conferences.
- Experience in gathering, compiling, analyzing, and interpreting data from repeatable studies and/or experiments related to forest entomology, forest pathology, or forest biology.
- Experience in writing technical reports, scientific papers and other technical documents in the area of forest entomology, forest pathology, or forest pest management.

Graduation with a Ph.D or Master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a natural or biological science with specialization in entomology, pathology, or forest biology, or a Bachelor’s degree plus equivalent experience of at least 5 years working in scientific research related to forest entomology,
forest pathology, or forest biology.
Experience in the following:
- Developing a budget.
- Maintaining files and records of commitments and expenditures.
- Prepare budget reports.
- Setting up standard experimental apparatus.
- Conducting experiments.
- Preparing samples and/or performing standard chemical, biological and physical analyses with precision and accuracy.
- Willing and able to travel within Canada (and abroad), including travel by car, rail and air.
- Willing and able to work overtime as required and to adopt flexible work hours as per operational requirements.
Secret security clearance

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.
As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring.
