What does a Data Collection Supervisor do?
As a Data Collection Supervisor, you provide hands-on, day-to-day oversight of Statistical Survey Operations staff, ensuring in collaboration with the Data Collection Manager, that they perform consistently and meet operational objectives and goals.
• Oversees daily collection operations to ensure adherence to pre-determined targets;
• Directly supervises a group of interviewers (includes recruitment, training, scheduling, performance management and evaluation and approval of pay/leave/travel claims);
• Conducts data gathering activities using a variety of interviewing techniques, methodologies and technologies in support of statistical programs;
• Conducts field sampling operations including the verification of sample areas and the application of sampling ratios;
• Supports interviewers in handling difficult respondents or situations and participates in data collection as required to obtain respondent participation
During the current pandemic, employees are required to work remotely from home. Employees may return to the workplace in the future. Telework is a part of a flexible work arrangement that may or may not be continued.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions within Statistics Canada with various tenures such as indeterminate, term, acting, assignment, secondment or deployment. The pool can be used to staff positions with various language requirements.

EDUCATION
Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience
EXPERIENCE
• Moderate* experience in dealing with the public, clients or respondents
• Experience conducting **data gathering activities
*Moderate is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally acquired over a period of 4 months
**Data gathering activities are typically defined as educational or work experience related to obtaining data using techniques such as but not limited to: interviewing, questionnaires/surveys, observations, focus groups, documents/records

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
