We are looking for a new HR Advisor to join our team. If you have experience in HR and you are looking to join a fun team where you can help clients with unique HR questions AND grow your HR experience, this could be the job for you!

The salary range for the Human Resources Advisor (Generalist) PE-03 position is $80,336 to $89,295. In addition, the selected candidate will also be entitled to:

-Northern allowance (approximately $23,000/ year to $40,000/year*).

-Vacation travel assistance (approximately $3000 a year per person*).

-Federal government housing is also available for this position.

-Financial assistance is also available to help with the costs of relocation to Iqaluit.

Duties

At CanNor, HR Advisors are generalists who work on all aspects of HR. Most new HR Advisors come to the team with experience in one or two areas and then they develop in the other areas through experience and training. There is often an opportunity to travel for training.

Over time, HR Advisors get experience working in staffing, recruitment, training, labour relations, classification/job evaluation, HR planning and compensation. We may be biased but we think CanNor is the best place to work in human resources!

Work environment

As an HR Advisor at CanNor, you would be part of a friendly and supportive HR team. You would provide client support to colleagues at our headquarters in Iqaluit and also to colleagues in offices in the Yukon, Northwest Territories and Ottawa.

Intent of the process

Intent of process is to fill 1 indeterminate (permanent) position in Iqaluit, NU at the PE-03 Human Resources Advisor (Generalist) level.

A pool of qualified candidates may also be established, and may be used to fill similar positions, with varying tenures, in any of CanNor’s northern offices (Iqaluit, Nunavut; Yellowknife, Northwest Territories; Whitehorse, Yukon).

This pool may also be used by other federal government organizations operating in Nunavut.

Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement who are found qualified in this staffing process will be appointed ahead of other qualified applicants.

Education:

ED1 : Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in human resources management, labour or industrial relations, psychology, public or business administration, organizational development, education sciences, social sciences, sociology, or in any other field relevant to the work to be performed OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:

• EX1 : Significant* experience in providing operational services or strategic advice to clients relating to Staffing and Resourcing, and in at least one (1) of the following areas: Labour Relations, Human Resources Planning, Classification and Organizational Design, or Learning and Development;

• EX2 : Significant* experience in providing operational or strategic advice, guidance and recommendations to management on complex or sensitive human resources issues;

*Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally acquired over a period of approximately three (3) years.
