Assessment accommodation

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.

As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring. Duties

• Provide assistance and coordination of planned activities related to the management of commercial, scientific, recreational and Indigenous fisheries and aquaculture management in the Gulf Region.
• Provide advice and recommendations to senior management on a variety of issues related to fisheries management and aquaculture.
• Coordinate and participate in various meetings with internal and external clients; tasks could include taking minutes, preparing agendas and preparing materials and equipment for the effective delivery of the meetings.
• Review and provide input to the development of various documents including policies, guidelines, Integrated Fisheries Management Plans, Conservation Harvesting Plans, Variation Orders, conditions of licence and agreements.
• Deal with diverse requests from internal and external clients including other government departments, fishing industry, Indigenous groups, Aquaculture organizations, other stakeholders and the public.

Intent of the process

The current selection process is to establish a list of qualified candidates for potential future staffing needs. It could serve to staff similar or identical positions with various language profiles, employment tenures, security requirements and conditions of employment at the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada in the Gulf region.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position.
*Indeterminate incumbents of positions in the CO group on June 21, 2021, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
Experience developing written materials such as but not limited to letters, reports, agreements, contracts, briefing notes or Memorandums of understanding.
Experience in collaborating and maintaining relationships with partners or clients.
Experience in gathering and analyzing information to assist decision making.
