Assessment accommodation

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, some employees of Indigenous Services Canada are currently working remotely. The department is actively working on a flexible, phased approach for the safe return of employees to their usual workspaces. Therefore, this opportunity may initially be a remote working opportunity. When it is deemed safe to return to the workplace, the opportunity will be in an Indigenous Services Canada office located in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Intent of the process

This process will initially be used to staff 3 indeterminate positions.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level with various language requirements (English Essential or Bilingual Imperative), various security requirements, various conditions of employment as well as various tenures (acting, assignment/secondment, deployment, term and/or indeterminate) within Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada and Indigenous Services Canada.

Education:
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in nursing, nursing service administration, nursing education or some other specialty relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

Occupational Certification:
• Eligibility for registration as a registered nurse in a province or territory of Canada.

Experience:
• Recent* and Significant** experience in community health nursing providing Primary Care or Public Health.
• Experience in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience developing and delivering group education sessions or training programs related to health.

* Recent is defined as within the last five (5) years.
** Significant is defined as a minimum of two (2) years experience with the candidate performing complex activities related to this task in a wide variety of situations.

• Experience with electronic medical records or public health information systems including EMR, eCharts and/or PHIMS.

Operational Requirements:
• Willingness and ability to perform on-call duties and work overtime, as required.

• Current valid registration as a Registered Nurse and a member in good standing in the province where the position is located.
• Willingness to obtain and maintain certification programs as deemed necessary by employer.
• Willingness to complete education/training relevant to the position.
• Willingness to perform on call duties as needed.
• Willingness to work overtime and on weekends as needed.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license or personal mobility associated with the possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Required to travel in small aircraft, off road vehicles and by boat in varied weather conditions.

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.

As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring. Should you reach the point in the selection process where it is necessary to verify terms and conditions of employment then the hiring manager or a human resources representative will contact you in order to complete an attestation.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
