Duties

Driving a vehicle to ensure transportation to and from the clients.

Work environment

The employee will work for CORCAN in a community environment in collaboration with co-workers and offenders. CORCAN is a program aimed at improving the employment and employability skills of offenders. The GS-STS-04 transports laundry to and from client facilities and sites.

Intent of the process

This process aims to create a pool of qualified candidates to staff a position (casual ( 90 days), term, indeterminate) within Correctionnal Service Canada.

EDUCATION

• A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

• Experience in receiving and shipping.

ABILITIES

• Ability to communicate effectively orally.

• Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

PERSONAL SUITABILITIES

• Demonstrate integrity and respect

• Thinking things through

• Work effectively with others

• Show initiative and be action-oriented

EXPERIENCE

• Experience working in a manufacturing, industrial, construction or related field.

• Experience in working with a clientele that is isolated from the labour market and has employability needs such as clients in the judicial system, mental health, Indigenous, immigrants or others.

• Experience working in a correctional setting.

• Experience in the operation and use of a tailgate type lifting platform.

ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS

• To support efforts to achieve a diverse workforce, priority may be given to those who have self- identified as belonging to one of the employment equity groups: Indigenous persons, persons with disabilities, visible minorities or women.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Be willing to work overtime occasionally and on holidays.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

Be able and willing to lift up to 20 kg in compliance with safe work practice.

Possession of a Full Class-AZ License in Ontario.
