Work environment

This position involves travelling to various remote communication sites in the Atlantic Region of CCG to complete maintenance and repairs to CCG towers and equipment. Communication sites consist of VHF, MF and DGPS systems and have both guyed and self-support towers.

Intent of the process

The selection process will be used to staff positions within the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) Atlantic Region, with positions in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. A pool of qualified candidates will be created and may be used to staff this position, similar positions, or lower level positions on a temporary or permanent basis.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Successful completion of a secondary school diploma (high school)

Degree equivalency

Recent* and significant** experience in the maintenance, installation and inspection of communication towers up to 300ft in height.
*Recent is defined as within the last 3 years
**Significant is defined as at least 6 months experience total

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Fall arrest and tower rescue certifications

Experience in the maintenance of aids to navigation structures
Experience in the installation of aids to navigation structures
Experience in the inspection of aids to navigation structures
