Information Technology is looking for driven & independent individual to fill a new role on our team – the IT Analyst, IT Security. If you are motivated and interested in an exciting opportunity to provide Technical IT services and advice in the development, implementation, and maintenance of IT security solutions to protect the integrity of departmental/agency IT assets, we encourage you to apply.
Key activities of the role include:
• Create and update security related policy and processes.
• Interprets, analyses, and recommends solutions with respect to the planning, development, implementation, integration and maintenance of IT security infrastructure and application components.
• Designs, develops, tests, implements and supports IT security solutions to protect departmental/agency IT assets.
• Investigates IT security incidents, recommends proactive measures and implements corrective action.
• Conducts security risk assessments and analysis, supporting the development and implementation of IT security strategies, processes, infrastructure and tools.
• Provides technical advice, IT security assistance and delivers IT security training and awareness to internal and external clients.
• Participates as a member on projects, leads short-term projects and/or reviews/monitors work of contractors.

The intent is to fill a one year temporary opportunity – with a possibility for extension.
A pool of qualified candidates (fully assessed or partially assessed) will be established and may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level. This process may be used for various positions and tenures (including but not limited to term and indeterminate appointments, internal assignments, secondments, deployments, acting appointments, casual) as well as various locations, security requirements, language requirements and conditions of employment.

Education:
The minimum standard is:
• Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.
Note:
1. Indeterminate incumbents in the IT group on December 9, 2021 who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the IT group.
2. Indeterminate incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. Experience in the following:
• Experience Investigating IT security incidents, recommends proactive measures and implements corrective action.
• Experience in writing security policies and processes
• Experience in assessing security solutions and providing recommendations to development team and stakeholders.
• Experience in developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating security controls such as business continuity, secure communications, and security event management.
Knowledge
• Knowledge of Mandatory Procedures for Information Technology Security Control.
• Knowledge of IT security standards, risk management framework and security best practices.
