** We recommend that you describe with concrete examples HOW, WHEN and WHERE you acquired the required essential qualifications. It is not enough to simply state that you have them or to list your current duties. An effective approach would be to write one or two paragraphs demonstrating that you have the required qualifications by ensuring clear and accurate details.**
Failure to provide this information in the requested format may result to the rejection of your application.
We recommend that you take the same approach by describing with concrete examples HOW, WHEN and WHERE you acquired the other qualifications (asset qualifications).
What you need to know:
• A group situation is scheduled as an assessment tool. People who will be summoned at this assessment stage may have to travel to the Maurice Lamontagne Institute, if the sanitary instructions allow it, and will be responsible for their own travel expenses during the evaluation.
• All communications (oral and written) obtained during this staffing process - from the time of application to the end of the process - may be used to assess candidates, with written communication being important in, for example, report writing.
*** SELF-DECLARATION: because you matter.***
This opportunity may be given priority to Indigenous candidates, persons with disabilities, visible minorities and women. We encourage you to self-identify when applying!
Working in a regulatory and scientific environment, the senior biologist is central to the coordination of the work to be done in the Ecosystem Management Branch. Links must be forged with a wide range of stakeholders in order to formulate recommendations to meet expected legal requirements. In all cases, senior biologists are called upon to lead a team of biologists towards the protection and conservation of the aquatic ecosystem in Quebec. The positions are varied and are divided under the aegis of three programs following the laws under the responsibility of the ecosystem management of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (Fisheries Act, Species at Risk Act, Oceans Act).
Regional Ecosystem Management Branch of Fisheries and Oceans Canada has a mandate to ensure the conservation and protection of aquatic ecosystems, freshwater and marine, of the Quebec region by the implementation of policies that flow from federal laws. We are located at the Maurice Lamontagne Institute in Mont-Joli, at the edge of the St. Lawrence Estuary. This is a workplace that is out of the ordinary, dynamic, where you can achieve your professional ambitions, while working alongside people who live for their trades.

As a result of this process, a pool of fully or partially qualified candidates will be created to fill similar or identical positions, with various tenures and various language requirements, at the Maurice Lamontagne Institute, located in Mont-Joli (Quebec).
