Intent of the process

This inventory will be used to create a pool of candidates to fill 2 types of temporary needs for the Maritime Search and Rescue Centre in Quebec City (MRSC-Q) :

1) Offer casual contract opportunities (90 working days per calendar year)
2) To offer temporary contract opportunities in the form of term appointments, acting appointments, assignments and/or secondments.
It is important to note that assignments, secondments and acting appointments are temporary staffing measures and require the approval of the employee`s substantive manager.

📢Please note that a withdrawal of candidacies will be held place on June 1st, 2022. Consequently, we strongly encourage you to complete your application and submit it before this date in order to be part of the next group assessed. All subsequent withdrawal of applications will occur based on operational needs.

EDUCATION

EXPERIENCE
AEX1: Having all Transport Canada (TC) approved seatime in order to obtain a Watchkeeping Mate Certificate issued under Canada Shipping Act, 2001 Marine Personnel Regulations SOR/2007-115 (or equivalent).
AEX2: Work Experience on Canadian Coast Guard Search and Rescue Bases.

OR1: Have valid Second Language Evaluation (SLE) results at the BBB/BBB level, issued by the Public Service Commission (PSC).

• Able and willing to work 12 hour day and night shifts on a rotating schedule, including weekends and holidays;
• Able and willing to work a standby schedule and overtime;

🚢DUTIES ANS WORK ENVIRONMENT
Under the supervision of the Marine Search and Rescue Coordinator, the Assistant Coordinator assists in providing an invaluable service to those in need of assistance on federal waterways.
The Assistant Coordinator supports the activation, planning and coordination of maritime search and rescue missions with Canadian Coast Guard vessels, Royal Canadian Air Force resources and other partners.
