A pool of (fully or partially qualified) candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at the RES group and level within Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or permanent), various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential, or Bilingual), linguistic requirements (imperative and/or non-imperative) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (Reliability status or Secret clearance), various conditions of employment and for various locations.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with an acceptable doctoral degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field of the natural sciences related to the duties of the position, or the employer-approved alternative for the SE classification

Productivity or Recognition:
• Recognized achievement in the form of authorship and editorship of published or unpublished reports, books, papers, patents, or other communications resulting from:

a) Research, experimental development, or assignment associated with operational equipment and problems; OR
b) Operational research and scientific analysis; OR
c) Planning, analysis and evaluation of Canadian and foreign programs in research and development.

Degree equivalency

• E1 - Experience in interdisciplinary research on materials science and engineering;
• E2 - Experience in writing research proposals, reports and scientific publications;
• E3 - Experience in materials processing, testing and characterization;
• E4 - Experience in collaborative research including multiple stakeholders (universities, industries, governments or science based non-government organizations).

• A2 - Ability to interpret scientific observations, develop models, and relate processing, microstructure to material performance;

• AQ 1 - Experience in conducting scientific research on battery materials and processing, e.g., cathodes, anodes, cell and pack components, etc.;
• AQ 2 - Experience in research or manufacturing on the recycling and reuse of batteries, e.g., chemistry, processing, testing, characterization, etc.;
• AQ 3 - Experience in research of carbon materials, e.g., graphite, graphene, carbon nanotubes, etc.;
• AQ 4 - Experience in research of rare earth metals, developing substitutes, new applications, etc.;
• AQ 5 - Experience in extractive metallurgy on metallic materials, high temperature synthesis, etc.

• Travel in Canada/ International is required;
• Working alone is required;
• Working with hazardous materials or in hazardous environment is required.
