The Canadian Geodetic Survey (CGS) provides national reference frames, gravity field measurements, GNSS data products and online services for accurate positioning. These products serve as the common foundation for all mapping, charting, navigation, boundary demarcation, crustal deformation, and other georeferencing needs in Canada.
As Team Leader/Geodetic Science Coordinator you will plan and coordinate the scientific and technical activities of staff, lead the development and implementation of innovative geodetic products and services while supporting Canadian Geodetic Survey management, stakeholders and clients. Following departmental and government priorities you will monitor scientific developments in geodesy and represent the Division at departmental, inter-departmental, national and international forums.

The immediate need is to staff two positions at the EN-SUR-04 group and level, located at 588 Booth Street, Ottawa, Ontario.
A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at Natural Resources Canada at the EN-SUR-04 group and level with various tenures (determinate period or permanent). The language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential and Bilingual), the method to staff a bilingual position (imperative and/or non-imperative), and linguistic profiles (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.) may vary, as well as security requirements (Reliability Status, Secret), conditions of employment and work locations.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS - candidates MUST meet all essential qualifications related to the specific EN-SUR-04 position to be considered for a position:
►Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in geodesy or other related field such as geomatics, land survey theory and practice or remote sensing.
►Experience planning and executing various analysis, development and research projects to meet geodetic science objectives using space-based technologies.
►Experience coordinating projects and contributing geodetic expertise to scientific investigations.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS - candidates MAY be required to meet one or more of the following qualifications to be considered for a particular EN-SUR-04 position (NB: Candidates will not be disqualified from the process based on Asset Qualifications. Asset Qualifications may be used to distinguish between candidates that meet all Essential Qualifications listed above and below):
►Graduation with a Master’s of Science or Doctorate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in Geodesy or other related field.
►A licence with the Association of Canada Lands Surveyors as a Canada Lands Surveyor.
►Experience managing financial and material resources.
►Willing and able to travel.
►Willing and able to work flexible hours and overtime.

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.
As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status.
