EDUCATION:

Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

EXP1: Recent* experience providing technical support and expertise in the installation, operation, support, maintenance, configuration, programming, security, testing or troubleshooting of Radio Communications.

EXP2: Experience analyzing, defining and documenting requirements and recommending solutions related to Radio Subscriber Equipment and Infrastructure.

EXP3: Recent* experience in repairing, modifying and maintaining wireless mobile voice and data communications equipment.

EXP4: Experience troubleshooting computer software and/or hardware using a systematic approach.

EXP5: Recent experience in working with IT and electronic test tools (e.g. WireShark, multi-meters, spectrum/RF analyzers, communication protocol analyzers, power meters, oscilloscopes or signal generators) to test, analyze, diagnose or repair electronics equipment.

*Recent experience is defined as experience normally acquired within the last five (5) years.

Conditions of employment

Top Secret security clearance - NOTE: Successful candidates will require a valid RCMP Top Security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment. The process to obtain RCMP security clearance involves a security/reliability interview and a field investigation regarding matters of criminal activity which includes reference checks, verification of credit/financial status, education, employment, etc. As such, the process may take several weeks or months to complete.

To be granted RCMP security clearance and to maintain the ethical standards of the RCMP, candidates must not be, or have been, involved in certain criminal activities*, have been dishonourably discharged, have pending personal bankruptcies, etc. For additional information and a complete list of activities, please visit http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/qualifications-and- requirements and read the section titled “To apply as a police officer, you must not have”, as well as the applicable considerations.
