On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.
As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring. Should you reach the point in the selection process where it is necessary to verify terms and conditions of employment then the hiring manager or a human resources representative will contact you in order to complete an attestation.

Duties

Several rare earth elements (REE) occurrences have been identified along the Central Metasedimentary Belt boundary zone (CMBbz) in pegmatites and carbonatites (e.g., Baie Mercier occurrence). Based on their lithological description, the host rocks of these occurrences are most likely associated with the Kensington-Skootamatta alkaline Suite that was emplaced between 1090 and 1060 Ma, i.e., at the onset of the inferred Grenvillian Orogenesis collision. The magmas related to this plutonic suite appear to be derived from a mantle source metasomatized during one or several former subduction events. The present project aims to determine if the host rocks of these occurrences are indeed part of the Kensington-Skootamatta Suite and to constrain the processes responsible to the REE mineralization through petrographic, mineralogical, geochemical and geochronological analyses. The structural setting of these intrusions will also be determined in the field to provide clues to the kinematics of the CMBbz. The results will provide important information on the tectonic-magmatic evolution during this key period of the Grenvillian orogeny as well as on the origin of REE deposits emplaced in orogenic environments. This project aims to begin in early/mid summer 2022 and will be conducted in collaboration with Dr. Felix Gervais from Polytechnique Montréal and Dr. Anne-Aurélie Sappin from the Geological Survey of Canada.
