The results of this process will be used to create a pool of qualified candidates which may be used to staff positions on an indeterminate, term, assignment, secondment or acting basis in various locations in the Prairie and Northern Region of Transport Canada.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

ED: A secondary school diploma or alternative approved by the employer (acceptable combination of education, experience and training).

Degree equivalency

EX1: Recent and significant* experience in conducting one or more of the following:
-inspections
-investigations
-audits
EX2: Recent and significant* experience working in the dangerous goods industry or in a regulatory environment.
EX3: Experience using MS office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
EX4: Experience in comprehending and applying legislation or policies.

* “Recent and significant experience” is understood to mean approximately three cumulative years of work experience in the past ten years.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

AED1: Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with a specialization in chemistry, engineering or related scientific field.
AED2: Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with an acceptable specialization in Criminology.
AED3: Associates Degree or Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institute or learning institute in engineering technology or physical sciences.
AED4: Associates Degree or Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institute or learning institute in Police Studies or Criminal Justice.

Degree equivalency

AEX1: Significant* experience in the aviation industry with direct or supervisory experience in the handling of dangerous goods as air cargo.
AEX2: Significant* experience working in the rail industry with direct or supervisory experience with the maintenance of rail equipment.
AEX3: Significant* experience in the road transportation industry, with direct or supervisory experience in the handling of dangerous goods.
AEX4: Significant* experience attending accident or emergency sites involving dangerous goods to ensure public safety.
AEX5: Significant* experience in risk management in a Safety Management Systems environment.
AEX6: Significant* experience in conducting investigations, obtaining and executing search warrants and preparing court briefs of evidence as a peace officer.
AEX7: Experience in planning and delivering education and awareness sessions.
AEX8: Experience in the inspection and requalification of Means of Containment.
AEX9: Experience in environmental remediation.
AEX10: A minimum of five years’ experience in the construction, design and/or inspection of bulk containers for flammable liquids, and/or cylinders for compressed gases.

ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS
Preference may be given to qualified candidates who voluntarily reported to belong to a group designated for the purposes of employment equity.

Conditions of employment

Secret security clearance

Possession of a valid Provincial Driver's License.

Pre-employment Medical Examination Category III.

Willingness and ability to work overtime (including nights, weekends, stand-by/on call), and travel for extended periods regionally, nationally, and internationally using all modes of transportation.

Willingness and ability to work in adverse environments and weather conditions and, on occasion, climb structures and equipment of facilities on sites where the access is difficult and the terrain rugged.

Willingness to work alone in isolated areas.
