The ISC team is committed to improving Canada’s relationship with Indigenous People while implementing the ISC vision to support and empower Indigenous peoples to control delivery of community-based services and address socio-economic conditions in their communities.

►As an ISC executive, you will have the opportunity to influence significant change from relationship building to transforming how and who delivers services in First Nations and other Indigenous communities across Canada. As a member of the ISC executive team, you will get to build and strengthen relationships with Indigenous partners to effectively deliver programs, enhance the ISC Indigenous centered-approach to service, support communities in planning and implementing their visions and work on transferring service delivery to Indigenous control. You will also have the opportunity to work collaboratively with Indigenous communities and other partners to improve the quality of and access to services. Bringing and advocating an Indigenous lens to your decision-making and to the Department’s decision-making are critical to changing the foundation for interactions between Indigenous Peoples and the Government of Canada.

Intent of the process

►The purpose of this process is to identify qualified candidates for the position of Associate Regional Director General in the British Columbia Region (Vancouver, British Columbia), Anticipatory in the Alberta Region (Edmonton, Alberta) and Anticipatory in the Ontario Region (Toronto, Ontario) AND possibly (ANTICIPATORY) for future positions in any region.

►The process may be used to fill similar positions with Indigenous Services Canada and Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (with various language requirements and profiles, and in various locations in Canada.)

►All federal organizations listed in the Schedules I, IV and V of the Financial Administration Act (FAA) may also use the results of this selection process to staff similar positions in their organization.

►Indeterminate employees at the same group and level or equivalent may also be considered for deployment. If no deployment is made, applicants from other groups and levels will be considered in the process.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

►Recent* experience in providing strategic advice to senior management on policy or programs issues.

►Experience in developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with partners, including Indigenous communities, groups and/or organizations.

►Recent* experience managing a complex organization in the implementation and delivery of programs and/or services.

►Recent* and significant** experience in managing human*** and financial**** resources.

NOTES:

*Recent experience is defined as having been acquired within the last five (5) years.

**Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of activities related to the work, which is normally acquired over a period of at least two (2) years.

***Some examples of managing human resources may include: Some examples of managing human resources may include: supervising staff, establishing a vision, priorities, work plans or establishing work objectives, conducting performance assessments and feedback and establishing employees learning and development plans. Applicants must also indicate the number of staff they have supervised.

****Some examples of managing financial resources may include: full delegation for a budget, being responsible for financial planning, forecasting and reporting. Applicants must also indicate the size of the budget they managed directly.

EXPERIENCE (ASSET):

►Experience, at the senior manager level (such as CEO, Board of Directors, Supervisors, etc…), in leading and managing change.

►In-depth experience working with First Nations and other Indigenous communities.
