Be part of the Human-Resource Civilian team! We need YOU to help DND offer human resources support in various disciplines such as recruiting (staffing), Labour Relations, classification, and many others related to the management of public service employees. The HR-Civ team plays a critical role in recruiting and administrating HR programs and procedures for DND’s civilian workforce who in turn, supports and delivers services to the Canadian Armed Forces.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to fill current and future vacancies in various locations with various employment tenures, language profiles, security requirements, and conditions of employment within the Department of National Defence

The Human-Resource Civilian team within the Department of National Defence includes various HR departments such as Staffing (Recruitment), Labour Relations, Classifications and many more. Based on your experience in a specific HR Discipline you will have the opportunity to work in one of these Centres of Expertise.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in human resources management, labour or industrial relations, psychology, public or business administration, organizational development, education sciences, social sciences, sociology, or in any other field relevant to the work to be performed.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
EX1. Recent* and significant** experience in providing services, guidance and strategic advice*** to clients and/or senior management in one or more Human Resources (HR) disciplines**** in private sector organizations or in the public sector.

* Recent experience refers to experience obtained within the past seven (7) years.
**Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience as well as complexity of tasks that is obtained with the performance of duties as your primary job function for a period of at least five (5) years.
***Strategic advice is defined as making recommendations based on conducting research, analysis and/or consultation.
****Human Resources (HR) disciplines is defined as recruiting and/or staffing, HR Generalist, labour relations, classification, learning and training, HR planning and HR programs.

Experience may be adjusted depending on the positions being staffed.

Additional qualifications may be required for some positions and you may be contacted and asked to submit information or to be further assessed.

EXPERIENCE :
AE1. Experience using a Human Resources and/or Recruiting information system/database.

AE4. Experience providing recruiting services such as hiring and staffing.
AE5. Experience providing classification services such as organizational design and job evaluation.
AE6. Experience providing labour relations services such as grievances, unsatisfactory performance, discipline, etc.
AE7. Experience providing advice and guidance to management in a unionized environment.
