Duties

Human Resources Assistants (HRA) within the Department of National Defence have the opportunity to work within a number of Centre of Expertise, including:
• Staffing (Recruitment);
• Classification;
• Labour Relations;
• And much more!

As a HRA, some of your duties may include:
• Coordinating and delivering human resources administrative and support services;
• Maintaining data and generating statistical reports in an electronic/technological environment;
• Undertaking various administrative tasks such as receiving, sorting, filing, reviewing, processing and responding to correspondence, such as memos and letters;
• Liaising with other HR staff contacts, managers, other departments, and employees to solicit or provide information on HR processes and procedures;
• Adapting, modifying and updating administrative methodologies, processes, practices and procedures (ex: update the security status of a position, changing official language status, etc.).

EDUCATION:
Successful completion of a post-secondary educational program* related to administration**

*Program includes certification, diploma, or degree program taken at a recognized post-secondary institution.
** Administration related programs may include: Office Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, Human Resources Management or any other related program.
***Must have completed educational program by 30 June, 2022.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, or Outlook).
Experience providing administrative or clerical support.

Experience working or volunteering in a mixed public service and military environment.
Experience working with a Human Resources Management System, such as PeopleSoft, beyond self-service.

Experience in responding to queries and providing recommendations or solutions.
Experience in maintaining electronic filing systems.
