► Once all of the requirements are met your name will then be added to the casual supply list which will be used by the Principals at Six Nations to meet their daily coverage needs.

►Your salary as a Teacher or Teacher Aide is determined based on the EB collective agreement, your years of experience validated via confirmation of employment letters, and your education credentials (additional qualifications).

• Consist of 6 schools (5 at Six Nations, Oshweken, ON and 1 at Quinte Mohawk, Tyendinaga, ON)

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to create a list of casual supply workers to fill various temporary teaching coverage needs which may occur throughout the school year at any of the Six Nations schools.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION: (Stream 1: Teacher)

The minimum standard for positions classified as Elementary and Secondary Teaching (ED-EST) is either Education or Occupational Certification.

• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in education, linguistics, sociology, psychology, mathematics, physics, home economics or some other specialty relevant to the positions in the classification.

EDUCATION: (Stream 2: Teacher Aide)
• A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (See Note 1).

Note:
1.The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
◦A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
◦An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.


Candidates who already meet both of the following criteria must be accepted as meeting the secondary school diploma requirement:
a.Candidates who have achieved a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; and
b.Candidates who have been appointed or deployed for an indeterminate period to a position in the EU classification.

The opportunity to be assessed by at least one of the two employer-approved alternatives must be offered to candidates who have not previously met the secondary school diploma requirement.

Candidates who were appointed or deployed on an indeterminate basis using an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience meet the secondary school requirement for the EU classification only and must be reassessed for entry to other classifications on the basis of this alternative.

Degree equivalency

Occupational Certification: (Stream 1: Teacher)
• Possession of an acceptable teaching certificate* from a province or territory of Canada.

EXPERIENCE: (Stream 1: Teacher)
• Experience as a teacher or teacher candidate in an elementary private/public school setting demonstrated through recent performance appraisals and /or professional references, professional portfolio, practicum.

EXPERIENCE: (Stream 2: Teacher Aide)
• Experience working with elementary school (public/private) age children or in a day care setting.

EXPERIENCE: (Stream 1 & 2)
• Experience using technology or other assistive devices to facilitate learning in the classroom

• Knowledge of classroom management practices
• Knowledge of current trends in curriculum reform in Ontario

Stream 2: Teacher Aide
• Knowledge of the current and innovative learning strategies for working with students with varying learning requirements in groups or on an individual basis.

ABILITIES AND SKILLS:

Stream 1: Teacher
• Ability to creatively develop and implement short and long term lesson plans
• Ability to analyze the results of formal and informal assessment tools

Stream 2: Teacher Aide
• Ability to assist in the implementation of a prescribed program in both individual and group settings
• Ability to assist in evaluation and assessment of student needs

ABILITIES AND SKILLS: (Stream 1 & 2)
• Ability to communicate effectively orally

Degree equivalency
