Assessment accommodation

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.

As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring. Duties

As the Regional Occupational Health & Safety Advisor, you will provide strategic direction and advice to internal clients, conduct assessments and inspections, develop and monitor strategies to reduce workplace hazards and ensure compliance with OHS legislation and policies.

This selection process will be used to staff existing and future vacancies in Occupational Health and Safety within Dartmouth, NS and Moncton, NB.

EDUCATION
Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution (college or university) with a specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience related to the position.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
Experience analyzing, interpreting or applying policies and procedures related to occupational health and safety.
Experience providing advice, guidance and recommendations to clients, employees or management related to occupational health and safety.
Experience preparing briefings or written reports for management (e.g. decks, briefing notes, reports, business plans, procedures).
Experience developing and delivering effective presentations or training sessions.

EXPERIENCE
Experience working in Health & Safety Services such as: conducting investigations, risk assessments, safety inspections, task hazard analysis, injury claims administration or similar tasks.

ABILITIES
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Conditions of employment

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
• Secret or Reliability Status security clearance (depending on position requirements)
• Possession of a valid Drivers’ License for the purposes of driving rental cars and departmental vehicles.
• Requirement to occasionally travel to remote locations.
• Requirement to occasionally work irregular hours and overtime.
• Requirement to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as personal flotation devices, protective footwear, respiratory protection and fall protection equipment. Some of these items may be heavy or cumbersome.
