Work environment

This staffing process will be used to staff various EN-ENG-04 level positions within various Regional Offices at Transport Canada. Presently with the Covid-19 pandemic situation, some Transport Canada staff have been working entirely remotely. However, there are positions that require a physical presence in our Transport Canada Centres.

STREAM 1:
One of the anticipatory positions to be staffed from this process is located in Surrey, British Columbia. Therefore, depending on the needs of the position to be staffed, you may be required to work out of this location or you may be able to work remotely, or a combination of on-site and remote work.

STREAM 2:
One of the anticipatory positions to be staffed from this process is located in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Therefore, depending on the needs of the position to be staffed, you may be required to work out of this location or you may be able to work remotely, or a combination of on-site and remote work.

Intent of the process

The immediate intent of this process is to staff one permanent position using stream 1 in Surrey, BC and one permanent position using stream 2 in Winnipeg, MB.

A pool of qualified and/or partially assessed candidates may be established to staff similar position with various tenures (indeterminate, term, deployment, assignment, secondment or acting opportunities) within Transport Canada (TC).

EDUCATION / OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
ED: Graduation with a degree from a recognized postsecondary institution in an engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
OR
OC: Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
EX1: Significant* experience in the design, development, testing, in-service support, or certification of aeronautical products.

*Significant is defined as having six (6) or more years of engineering experience whilst progressively acquiring increased responsibilities related to engineering in the aerospace industry.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
AOC: Previous delegation or qualification to become delegated as an Aircraft Certification Delegate by Transport Canada.

EXPERIENCE

EX2: Significant** engineering experience in the design, development, testing, in-service support or certification of Aircraft Structures (AWM 523/525/527/529).

Stream 2:
EX3: Significant** engineering experience in the design, development, testing, in-service support or certification of occupant safety provisions and / or environmental systems (AWM 523/525/527/529).
AND/OR
Significant** engineering experience in the design, development, testing, in-service support or certification of engines or power plant installations on rotorcraft or fixed wing aircraft.

**Significant is defined as having three (3) or more years of experience whilst progressively acquiring increased responsibilities related to engineering in the aerospace industry.

KNOWLEDGE

Stream 1:
K1: Knowledge of engineering principles related to aircraft structures.

Stream 2:
K2: Knowledge of engineering applicable to aircraft, aircraft engines, occupant safety provisions, or other aeronautical products such as: design, development, testing, certification, maintenance, manufacturing, repair, overhaul, operations, or product support.

ASSESSMENT – RESCHEDULING
Rescheduling will only be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Supporting documentation will be required at the time of your request to be rescheduled.

Possible reasons for alternate assessment dates:
· Medical reason with doctor's certificate;
· Death in the immediate family;
· Professional obligation (proof required);
· Confirmation of pre-approved travel plans; or
