Duties

This group and level includes a number of different types of positions, including: Accountant- Comptroller and subject matter experts. Generally these positions are responsible to provide advice, guidance, analysis and recommendations to client(s). They could also deliver information sessions, develops analyses, briefings, and reports, conduct cost/benefit risk and trend analyses, or prepares expenditure forecasts.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:

A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization* in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics AND experience related to positions in the Financial Management Group; OR

Occupational Certification

Eligibility** for a recognized professional accounting designation. The recognized professional accounting designations are Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified General Accountant (CGA).

*At DND, specialization at the FI-02 level and above is defined as the successful completion of six (6) courses in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics at a recognized post-secondary institution.
** Eligibility: A candidate has met all academic and occupational requirements, including those with respect to degrees, examinations, and experience, without having to have obtained or maintained actual registration, certification or membership in a professional association.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Minimum of 2 consecutive years of experience in one or more of the following areas*:
(a) accounting operations (e.g. accounts payable);
(b) corporate accounting (e.g. financial statements, Public Accounts);
(c) financial planning, budgeting, and reporting;
(d) financial management advisory services;
(e) auditing (internal or external);
(f) internal controls;
(g) financial systems;
(h) costing;
(i) financial policy.

*One or more of the essential experience qualifications may be applied to the position being staffed.

2. Experience using Microsoft Suite (e.g. Word, Excel or PowerPoint).

3. Experience in preparing financial analysis or reports.
