Intent of the process

A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be established through this process and may be used to staff identical or similar positions with various tenures, security requirements, work locations and/or linguistic requirements at Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions and for other departments.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

STREAM 1: FI-01
EDUCATION:
- Successful completion of two years of a post-secondary program with a specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics;
OR
- Possession of the Government of Canada Financial Management Certificate.

STREAM 2: FI-02
EDUCATION:
- A degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics AND experience related to positions in the Financial Management Group;
OR
- Eligibility for a recognized professional accounting designation. The recognized professional accounting designations are Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified General Accountant (CGA).

*The term “degree” refers to a baccalaureate as established by educational authorities.

Degree equivalency

STREAM 1: FI-01 and STREAM 2: FI-02
EXPERIENCES:
- Experience using financial software or reporting tools.
- Recent and significant** experience in at least one of the following areas:
• Resource planning and management or financial management consulting services;
• Accounting Operations;
• Internal or external audit, internal control, or quality assurance;
• Financial Reporting;
• Financial policies;
• Financial systems;
• Accounts Receivable Management.

FOR STREAM 1: FI-01: **Recent and significant experience is defined as experience of a complexity and diversity related to the performance of duties for approximately (6 months) within the last three years where these activities were core to the job and therefore not casual or ad hoc.

FOR STREAM 2: FI-02: **Recent and significant experience is defined as experience of a complexity and diversity related to the performance of duties for approximately (1 year) within the last three years where these activities were core to the job and therefore not casual or ad hoc.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

STREAM 1: FI-01 and STREAM 2: FI-02
ASSET:
- Experience in audit or internal control.

- Experience in the interpretation and application of financial policies, guidelines and procedures.

- Experience in developing or improving finance-related business processes.

- Experience extracting, compiling and analyzing financial data and preparing reports, including making recommendations.

- Experience with departmental accounting including period-end activities and reporting (trial balance, public accounts, proactive disclosure, forecasting and expenditure reporting for management).

- Experience in financial planning, budgeting and costing.

- Experience using SAP (data entry or preparing reports).

- Experience supervising employee(s).

- Experience working in the federal government.

- Experience working in a federal government headquarters.

- Experience working at Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions.

- Eligibility for an accounting designation from a recognized professional association Recognized professional accounting designations are Chartered Professional accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Certified General Accountant (CGA).
