Duties

The Office of International Affairs is recruiting for a number of positions where you will have the opportunity to develop and expand your skills and knowledge in global health. Below are examples of the potential duties you may perform:
• Advise decision-makers on COVID-19 recovery efforts and the advancement of Canada’s global health goals, balancing economic, environmental, and social considerations.
• Analyze high-priority, emerging global health issues and provide advice, policy formulation and recommendations to support senior management.
• Support the participation of senior decision-makers and officials in high-level meetings with international stakeholders related to high-priority and emerging global health issues
• Work with technical experts across Canada’s health portfolio to communicate and share knowledge with global stakeholders related to Canada’s domestic health priorities.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.

Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
• Experience researching, analyzing and synthesizing policy information.
• Experience in developing strategic options and recommendations.
• Experience in briefing management (supervisor level and above) through written material such as briefing notes, presentations, correspondence and other relevant material.
• Experience working with internal and external stakeholders.

• Experience working within the Health Portfolio.
• Experience participating in international meetings, negotiations, and events.
• Experience consulting and negotiating with officials from other federal departments; other countries or international organizations to advance international priorities.
