A Financial Officer is generally responsible for providing basic advice, guidance and analysis on financial or non-financial information regarding the organization. A Financial Officer advises and trains clients on the application of financial policies as well as procedures, directives, etc. on financial and non-financial information.

EDUCATION:
Successful completion of two years of a post-secondary program with specialization* in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics; OR Possession of the Government of Canada Financial Management Certificate.
*At DND, specialization at the FI-01 level is defined as the successful completion of four (4) courses in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics at a recognized post-secondary institution.

EXPERIENCE:
1. Experience in two or more of the following areas*:
• Analyzing financial information;
• Preparing financial documents such as reports, financial analysis or presentations;
• Using financial systems (e.g. Oracle, SAP, etc.);
• Providing advice on financial policies or procedures;
• Processing financial transactions.
*Two or more of the essential experience qualifications may be applied to the position being staffed.
2. Experience using Microsoft Suite (e.g. Word, Excel or PowerPoint).
EDUCATION:
A recognized professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, or CGA).
EXPERIENCE:
Experience working or volunteering in a mixed public service and military environment.

As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status.
