DRDC is looking for a General Labour Non-Tradesperson Multi-Skilled / Field Support Technician to provide general labour support for field experiments conducted during Research and Development (R&D) testing at the CFB Suffield. The work includes general labour, minor construction, motorized equipment operations and technical support in the sustainment of infrastructure, laboratories, workshops and field test sites.

EDUCATION:
🔸 A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE:
🔸 Experience performing grounds maintenance services.
🔸 Experience as a semi-skilled worker in the field of carpentry, welding, electrical, plumbing, machining or metal work.
🔸 Experience in the operation of a wide range of mobile handling equipment (MHE)*, and mobile support equipment (MSE)**.
* Examples of MHE are transport equipment, positioning equipment, storage equipment, bulk handling equipment, platform trucks, etc.
** Examples of MSE are forklift, skid steer, 3-5 ton trucks, range land fire trucks, crane truck, scissor lift units, various trailers, snowplows, tractors, buses, etc.

🔸 Willing and able to lift and carry heavy items up to 20.5Kg (45lbs) in accordance with general safety practices.
🔸 Willing and able to complete a pre-approved Health Canada medical assessment (Category 3).
🔸 Willing and able to perform a variety of physical tasks, including but not limited to, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, grasping, reaching, stooping, crouching, and sitting.

5. On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.
As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status.
