The official workplace for the position is in Halifax. Depending on the needs and requirements of the service, the possibility of a telework arrangement in the Atlantic could be considered. The request will be assessed in accordance with the provisions of the Directive on Telework.
The immediate intent of this selection process is to staff one indeterminate position and one term position at the EC-04 or EC-05 level. A pool of fully or partially candidates can be established to staff similar or identical position at Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) or Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) with various tenure, location, linguistic profiles, conditions of employment and security requirements.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a Master’s degree in Epidemiology from a recognized university with acceptable specialization in Economics, Sociology or Statistics*.
* Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE:
Both streams (EC-04 and EC-05)
• Experience analyzing survey data.
• Experience in applied epidemiology (e.g., conducting or coordinating outbreak investigations, chronic or infectious/communicable disease surveillance or other applied epidemiological studies).
Stream 1 (EC-04)
• Experience working in Public Health or Epidemiology.
Stream 2 (EC-05)
• Experience working in Public Health or Epidemiology*.
• Experience providing recommendations to senior management.
• Experience working with external or internal stakeholders.
• Experience compiling, analyzing and interpreting epidemiological or surveillance information for technical reports or briefing materials.
• Experience planning, developing or delivering content used in public health training such as a workshop, in-person or online training course.
*Stream 2 (EC-05): Experience is defined as the depth and breath of experience normally associated with the performance of the duties for a period of two (2) continuous years within the past 5 years. Experience gained through a graduate degree program/research or volunteer work is not acceptable.
ASSETS EXPERIENCE:

• Experience in analysis related to First Nation population and/or their determinants of health.
• Experience in developing performance measurement indicators and assessing progress toward targets.
Stream 2 (EC-05)
• Experience conducting complex statistical analysis (e.g., statistical modelling, factor analyses, geospatial analyses, regression analyses, etc.).

Information on employment equity
On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service. As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring.
