On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.
As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring. Head of Infrastructure and Development:
Responsible for a team ensuring reliable 24/7 operations of critical software systems and developing tools and applications to support CHIS operations, and for liaison between CHIS and Shared Services Canada (SSC).
The Canadian Hazards Information Service (CHIS) provides authoritative scientific and technical information regarding earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, landslides, space weather, geomagnetic activity, nuclear explosion tests, and nuclear and radiological incidents.
CHIS operates Canada-wide seismic, hydroacoustic, acoustic, and geomagnetic sensor networks as well as mobile radiation sensors to monitor some of these phenomena and provide timely notification and characterization of their occurrence.
CHIS also conducts scientific and technical research to ensure the mechanisms, hazards, and risks of the phenonena are understood and to ensure that techniques and technologies in use are appropriate and current.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or indeterminate), language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential and Bilingual (Imperative and/or Non-Imperative) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.).

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.
Note: The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.
Experience in providing written and oral advice to support decision-making.
Significant experience coordinating, planning and implementing projects with governments or other stakeholders.
*Recent and significant experience in direct supervision of technical or professional staff or leading groups to deliver scientific or technical products or services to clients.
*Recent and significant experience in managing human resources.
*Recent and significant experience in managing financial resources.
*Recent means two or more years experience in the last 5 years.

Recent (within the last 5 years) experience in the computation and approval of geophysical data to national standards.
Experience in working within multi-disciplinary or multi-agency project teams or working groups on research and development projects.
Experience in planning, organizing, developing and executing scientific and/or technical programs.
Knowledge of legislation applicable to geophysical hazards in Canada.
Knowledge of geophysical domestic and international organizations.
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations as they pertain to field operations.
Secret security clearance
