Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in economics, sociology, or statistics.
Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE*:
E1 - Experience developing strategic policy and providing policy advice and recommendations to senior management, such as DGs, ADMs, the DM and/or the Minister (e.g., briefing notes, presentations, verbal briefings).
E2 - Experience planning and coordinating horizontal projects or briefing materials that require integrating and balancing different views.
E3 - Experience developing collaborative working relationships with other departments, agencies, other levels of government, and/or international stakeholders to address policy issues.
E4 - Experience in formulating options, positions and/or strategies pertaining to intergovernmental relations, international relations and/or trade policy.
* Experience will be evaluated based on its depth, breadth and relevance. This could include the diversity of files or projects handled, the degree of independence shown, the depth of research, strategic linkages or analysis required, the variety of stakeholders engaged, and the level of urgency, priority ad profile of the work completed.
ASSET QUALIFICATION - Education:
Graduation with a Master’s degree from a recognized university in a field relevant to the position.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS - Experience:
AQE1 – Experience participating in international or intergovernmental negotiations to advance natural resource priorities.
AQE2 – Experience in managing multiple sensitive or complex issues* in a fast-paced environment with demanding deadlines.
AQE3 - Experience in leading and/or coordinating interdepartmental policy initiatives, programs and/or projects.
AQE4 - Experience participating in working groups to represent sector perspectives.
AQE5 – Experience with the strategic management or organization of multilateral events (e.g., trade negotiations, international ministerial meetings, FPT ministerial meetings).
*Complex issues are issues with at least two of the following characteristics: multidimensional, sensitive, confidential, affecting many partners or stakeholders, precedent setting or having a major impact on the public service, or having a potential for significant media coverage.

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.
As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring. Should you reach the point in the selection process where it is necessary to verify terms and conditions of employment then the hiring manager or a human resources representative will contact you in order to complete an attestation.
