As a Senior Technical Officer, you will be called upon to:
-Provide technical client service to internal users at Statistics Canadarelated to collection applications and collection tools;
-Provide support and assistance to users for collection infrastructure and collection application related issues;
-Update documentation and checklists related to operational and troubleshooting procedures;
-Test, install and configure collection applications or tools for various data collection modes at Statistics Canada;
-Monitor, exchange information and serve as liaison for routine case resolution processes;
-Identify, diagnose and resolve basic technical problems on the various infrastructure used by Statistics Canada collection modes.

In the current pandemic, the majority of employees are required to carry their work remotely; Statistics Canada endeavors to ensure ongoing flexible work arrangements in the future, including the possibility of ongoing remote work.
The intent of this process is to staff two (2) positions. A pool of qualified candidates may be established from this process to staff identical or similar positions within Statistics Canada. These positions may be staffed with various tenures, with various language requirements and various security requirements.

EDUCATION
A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (see Note 1).

-A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
-An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE
Recent* and significant** experience providing technical support for electronic applications.
Recent* and significant** experience providing client service on the telephone and via e-mail.
Recent* and significant** experience in working in a team environment and assisting other team members.
*Recent experience is usually defined as experience acquired within approximately the last three (3) years.
**Significant experience is defined as experience normally associated with the performance of those duties for a period of a minimum of six (6) months.
ASSET EXPERIENCE:
Experience in supervising staff.
Experience in using a problem management system to document cases.
Experience troubleshooting encryption problems.
Experience providing support for Statistics Canada surveys or applications.
Bilingual - Imperative (CBC/CBC)

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Availability and willingness to work overtime
Candidates must be available and willing to work shift work on a rotating basis which includes days, evenings and weekends.
Reliability Status security clearance

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.
As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent),determinate (term), casual, and student hiring. Should you reach the point in the selection process where it is necessary to verify terms and conditions of employment then the hiring manager or a human resources representative will contact you in order to complete an attestation.
