Assessment accommodation

Duties

About the Health Assessment and Surveillance Directorate :

The Health Assessment and Surveillance Directorate focuses on information for decision making. This can take many forms, including supporting:

• First Nation health centres in Atlantic Canada with Electronic Medical Records, Public Health Information Systems, Connectivity, Safety and Security of information, and Telehealth;
• First Nation health centres in Atlantic Canada accessing health data for their planning and decision making;
• Indigenous-led evaluative inquiry.

Governance is at the core of what we do, with the intention of transferring control of services to Indigenous Partners. To do this, we work in collaboration with communities, programs, Indigenous organizations, Provincial departments and agencies and other partners.

Intent of the process

The immediate intent of this selection process is to staff one indeterminate position. While this competition is for the Director of Health Assessment and Surveillance position, a pool will be established to staff similar or identical EC-07 positions at Indigenous Services Canada and Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada with various tenure, location, linguistic profiles, conditions of employment and security requirements.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
Graduation with a relevant degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization* in economics, sociology or statistics including coursework related to social sciences or health.

Notes:
1. *Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience. If in doubt, please reach out to the hiring manager.
2. An indeterminate incumbent of a former ES position on June 30, 1967 who became an EC on June 22, 2009, who does not possess the minimum level of education as indicated above is deemed to meet this minimum educational standard based on his/her education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
Experience working on files responding to complex* health, social or educational issues for a period greater than 2-years.
Experience in developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with key stakeholders.
Experience managing financial and human resources.
Experience in briefing various groups, including senior management**.

* Complex is defined as including the following characteristics: issues that are multidimensional and which require a multitude of information to be analyzed including that of a sensitive or confidential nature.
** Senior management is understood to mean a team or individuals at the highest level of management of an organization who have the day-to-day tasks of managing that organization (that is, Director level (EX-01) or equivalent or above, or the private sector equivalent).

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

Information on employment equity

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.
