The immediate need is to fill the position of Teacher of French as a Second Language for a specified or indeterminate period within the Department of National Defense.
As a result of this process, a pool of qualified candidates will be created to staff similar positions at the ED-LAT-01 group and level on an indeterminate or specified period in the department.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in education, linguistics, sociology, psychology, mathematics, physics, home economics or some other specialty relevant to the positions in the classification.
EXPERIENCE:
EX1: Significant and recent* experience teaching French as a Second Language to adults.
EX2: Significant and recent* experience in distance teaching.
EX3: Significant and recent* experience in developing and implementing a training program.
* Significant and recent is defined as having a minimum of approximately two (2) years of experience in the last five (5) years.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
CERTIFICATION:
ACERT: Teaching certificate in French language (CELTA, C.A.E.S.L., PFL2 or equivalent)
EXPERIENCE:
AEX1: Experience using technology to deliver training (i.e. online or virtual teaching).
AEX2: Experience in teaching French as second language to public service employees
AEX3: Experience in creating online content for distance learning.
AEX4: Experience teaching students with learning disabilities.
Bilingual - Imperative (BBB/PPP)

KNOWLEDGE:
K1: Knowledge of andragogy.
K2: Knowledge of learning styles in a classroom.
K3: Knowledge of tools and methodologies to teach a second language (especially dealing with distance teaching)
K4: Knowledge of the criteria used to assess the second language and the identification of levels (A, B, and C) by the Public Service Commission.

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.
As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring.
