AAFC’s Actuarial and Forecasting Unit is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill an actuarial analyst position. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of files including reviewing the actuarial methodologies used by provinces and approving their use across Canada with regards to agricultural insurance programs.
The Actuarial Analyst is responsible for providing actuarial services that will lead to federal government approval of changes to provincial programs under AgriInsurance.
The Actuarial Analyst will provide support in developing and approving pricing methodologies, determining probable yields, assessing the self-sustainability of provincial programs, and establishing guidelines for actuarial certifications of crop insurance programs.
The Actuarial Analyst will additionally play a supporting role in providing actuarial services to the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada department to assist in the development of policies and programs related to agriculture and agri-food.
The current need is to staff one English essential full time permanent position.
Although we are looking to fill one position, in the event that more than one candidate is found qualified, a pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures, linguistic requirements and security requirements within AAFC.

EDUCATION
Graduation from a recognized university with a degree in actuarial science accredited by the Canadian Institute of Actuaries’ University Accreditation Program.

Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) or Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) with three years of working experience as an actuarial analyst.
EXPERIENCE
Experience using common word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and database software (i.e. MS Word, Outlook, Excel).
EDUCATION
Graduation from a recognized university with a masters or PhD in actuarial science or related field.
Completion/credit of Fellowship Exams from the Casualty Actuarial Society or the Society of Actuaries.
Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) or Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) with at least five years of working experience as an actuarial analyst.
EXPERIENCE
Recent experience* in agricultural insurance or an actuarial field that could be transferred to the agricultural insurance sector.
*Recent experience is defined as within the last five years.
