The Executive Documents Unit (EDU) at Natural Resources Canada is looking for bilingual editors at the IS 03 and IS-04 levels (or equivalent). Candidates must be detail-oriented and team players, with a capacity to multitask and work well under pressure. These positions offer the opportunity to work on a variety of executive documents, including correspondence for the signature of the Minister or Deputy Minister (DM) and briefing materials for the DM and the Minister on departmental management, domestic and international policy, strategy, and communications, events, meetings, etc.

There is an immediate need to staff two (2) positions indeterminately with bilingual imperative CCC/CCC linguistic profiles.
A pool of qualified or partially qualified candidates will be established through this process and may be used to fill identical or similar bilingual imperative positions with varying tenures (indeterminate, deployment, acting, assignment, secondment, specified period), various security requirements, various conditions of employment and for various locations depending on the position being staffed.

EDUCATION
FOR BOTH STREAMS (IS-03/IS-04):
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.*
*At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training, and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum education standard.
EXPERIENCE:
FOR BOTH STREAMS (IS-03/IS-04):
EX1: Minimum of one (1) year of experience in reviewing and editing executive correspondence and briefing material.
EX2: Experience in composing routine administrative correspondence.
EX3: Experience in the development of templates and guideline documents.
FOR STREAM 2 ONLY (IS-04):
EX4: Significant experience* in comparative editing** of texts that have been translated into English or French.
EX5: Significant experience* in editing executive correspondence and briefing material within a government department.
EX6: Experience in using a tracking and tasking tool or database such as ccmMercury, ccmEnterprise, or WebCIMS and a repository such as GCdocs.
EX7: Experience in coordinating and reviewing multi-reply or correspondence campaign projects.
EX8: Experience in supervising the workload and human resources requirements of employees.
EX9: Significant experience* in providing strategic advice to management on executive documents.
*Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of work normally acquired by performing the duties for a period of approximately 2 consecutive years, full time.
**Comparative editing is defined as a comparison of a translated text in French or English to its source text to ensure the translation accurately captures the content, style, and tone of the original version.

Secret security clearance
Ability to work overtime occasionally and on short notice.
To ensure that someone is on duty during business hours from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, incumbent must have the ability to work a set schedule from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm or 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.
