Duties

Duties include but not limited to the following:

Maintain daily log of operation, maintenance and safety activities
Monitor and inspect plant equipment and systems to detect equipment malfunctioning and to ensure plant systems are operating normally
Assist during routine systems testing
Operate automated or computerized control systems
Assist in the development of operation, maintenance and safety procedures
Start up and shut down power plant equipment
Issue work and test permits to electrical and mechanical maintenance personnel
Assist in locating and isolating system problems
Write plant or building operation reports
Analyze and record instrument readings and equipment malfunction

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION
A valid First Class Power Engineer's Certificate as issued by the province of Manitoba
OR
A valid First Class Stationary Engineer's Certificate from another province or territory with interprovincial certification

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
Experience as a Shift Engineer in a Central Heating Plant or high pressure steam plant.
Experience in supervision
Experience using a computer for administrative functions

EXPERIENCE
Experience monitoring and enforcing workplace health and safety regulations.
Experience in controlling the operation and maintenance of high or low pressure steam plants and distribution systems.
Experience testing boiler water and determining the treatment required.
Experience performing maintenance and testing, including keeping records.
Experience planning, directing and controlling the operation of a heating plant.
Experience in performing administrative tasks related to plant operations such as determining work priorities, assigning work schedules and ensuring maintenance work is logged and recorded.
Experience in the use of the chemical products used in thermal stations and the analysis and control process of water boilers.
