We are looking for individuals with strong initiative, who can work independently and problem solve. You will engage with a diverse internal client group, providing guidance on site operations and interpreting and applying occupational health and safety policies and procedures. You will lead multifaceted projects and manage day to day site operations and budgets. This process is being used to staff one (1) indeterminate position in Sidney. A pool of qualified candidates will be established and used to staff future vacancies of various tenures in Nanaimo and Sidney. A hybrid work arrangement with some time on site and some time at home will be possible, however interested candidates must be willing and able to work onsite in Nanaimo or Sidney.

• A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training or experience.
• Experience providing administrative services
• Experience managing a budget
• Experience in project management
• Experience interpreting policies and providing advice
• Experience in preparing reports and delivering presentations;
Any of the following asset qualifications may also be deemed as an essential qualification and only candidates and persons with a priority entitlement who possess those qualifications will be considered for that specific vacancy.
• Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field related to the position
• Occupational health and safety certification or training
• Forklift certificate
• Experience delivering workplace Occupational Health and Safety programs
• Experience using the financial system SAP
• Experience managing a fleet or other material resources;

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service. As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring. Should you reach the point in the selection process where it is necessary to verify terms and conditions of employment then the hiring manager or a human resources representative will contact you in order to complete an attestation.
