Duties

Under the supervision of the Transportation Security manager, your mandate will consist of enforcing legislation and regulations regarding air or rail transport safety. You will inspect and interact with various industry stakeholders on a daily basis, facilitate voluntary conformity and effect enforcement measures when appropriate. You will conduct operational and administrative investigations, work as a team to solve complex problems, participate in administrative investigations and will have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of special projects.

Under the TI Recruitment and Development Program at Transport Canada, candidates start the program at the entry level TI-05 and are expected to graduate at the TI-06 level. Upon completion of the requisite training and experience requirements, candidates will be assessed for the next level of the program and will be appointed to the TI-06 level should they meet all the essential qualifications. Generally, recruits spend a minimum of 12 months in the program. The salary range for a TI-06 is $78,864 to $90,012.

Given the pandemic, inspectors primarily work a hybrid model of working from home and working on-site conducting oversight activities. Because this process will result in a pool of qualified candidates which may be accessed over the course of the next 12-24 months, specific work arrangements (such as working from home, working from the office, or a hybrid of both) will be determined as positions become available.
