All of the incumbents work directly with Indigenous and territorial governments, as well as a variety of non-governmental organizations, collaborating to deliver the conservation and management mandate of the Canadian Wildlife Service in the three territories.
Position Duties include:
Provides key coordination and implementation of selected species obligations as identified by the Species at Risk Act in conjunction with regional land claim obligations.
Establishes, maintains and participates in partnerships, committees and working groups with federal and territorial government departments, Indigenous organizations and/or non-government organizations on initiatives related to Species at Risk.
A pool of qualified candidates will be created to staff similar positions with various tenures (indeterminate, specified period, deployment, assignment, secondment, acting, acting extensions).

Education:
•Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a natural, physical or applied science with specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position.
Note:
1.The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.
Experience:
- Experience working effectively on environmental protection or wildlife issues with at least two of the following groups: Indigenous people, government, regulators, environmental non-government organizations or industry.
- Experience leading or participating on multi-jurisdictional or multi-disciplinary teams or partnerships focused on environmental or conservation issues, wildlife, habitat or ecosystems.
- Experience analyzing and interpreting information on ecosystems, habitats or species.
Asset Education:
Graduation with an advanced degree (Masters, Doctorate) from a recognized post-secondary institution in a natural, physical or applied science with specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position.
Asset Experience:
- Experience working effectively with Indigenous communities and committees in northern Canada.
- Experience working on environmental or conservation issues, wildlife, habitat or ecosystems in northern Canada (emphasis on caribou).
- Experience conducting consultations on environmental or conservation issues, wildlife, habitat or ecosystems.
- Experience leading programs or projects on species at risk conservation or recovery planning.
- Experience planning or conducting wildlife or habitat field studies in remote locations.
- Experience with federal Species at Risk funding programs.
- Experience supervising or mentoring staff.

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.
