IS-02 | The Regional Junior Communications Officer is responsible, under direct supervision, for assisting in the development and preparation of communications products and/or services.
IS-03 | The Regional Communications Officer is responsible, under general supervision, for the development and implementation of communications products and services.
IS-04 | The Regional Communications Advisor is responsible for the development of communications plans, provision of advice, guidance and leadership in the development of products and services.

Work environment

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the majority of our employees are currently working from home. Once we re-open our offices, various flexible work arrangements may be considered.

Intent of the process

This inventory is evergreen and will be used to staff immediate and future vacant positions within the department with various linguistic profiles, conditions of employment, work locations, security requirements and/or various tenures (permanent or temporary) as per the position being staffed.

IS-02, IS-03 & IS-04 | EDUCATION – ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION
- A degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

The term “degree” refers to baccalaureate, master’s or earned doctorate as established by educational authorities.

IS-02 | EXPERIENCE – ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in writing and editing products or briefing materials.
- Experience in conducting research and providing recommendations.
- Experience in responding to requests for information from the general public or internal clients.

IS-03 | EXPERIENCE – ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in researching, writing and editing at least 2 of the following communications-related product areas: news releases, backgrounders, fact sheets, speeches, articles, social media content, intranet or web content, media lines, or marketing/promotional material.
- Experience in planning or staging public events.
- Experience in building and maintaining relationships with external partners/ or stakeholders.

IS-04 | EXPERIENCE – ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS – All experiences should be acquired in the last 5 years.
- Experience in writing communications products.
- Experience in coordinating communications activities (virtual or in-person).
- Experience in providing communications services to clients.
- Experience providing strategic advice and guidance to clients and management.

- Experience in media relations activities such as media monitoring or responding to requests for information from the media.
- Experience working with special event organizing committees, municipalities or provincial and territorial governments or other federal agencies/departments.
- Experience as a departmental *liaison.
*The liaison role include duties, such as but not limited to: negotiating with others on communication issues and manage expectations, developing and fostering relationships with a senior office, be the point of contact between a business office and a senior office, and understanding their parent business and how it impacts its clients.
