On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.
As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring. The Geographical Information System (GIS) Manager provides analysis and graphic representation of data in support of the delivery of the Aquaculture Leasing Program in PEI.
KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provides a leading role in the management of the Geographical Information System (GIS) platform for the Aquaculture Leasing Division. This includes monitoring geospatial software performance, developing and implementing procedures, and installing, configuring, and testing new geospatial applications and web technologies.
• Provides Geographical Information System (GIS) analysis (including data acquisition, manipulation, geoprocessing and spatial analysis) for sets of earth science data.
• Provides the Aquaculture Leasing Division staff with technical support related to the operation of Geographical Information System (GIS) software and platforms, analyzing and addressing reported issues and inefficiencies.
• Organizes, administers, maintains and develops environmental and geoscience data management frameworks for the Aquaculture Leasing Division.
The immediate intent of this selection process is to staff 1 term position which may result in an indeterminate appointment at a later date. Please note that this selection process could be used to staff similar level position within the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) with various tenures, linguistic profiles, various security requirements, various condition of employment and various locations.

EDUCATION
Completion of a post-secondary diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution or acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
EXPERIENCE
• Recent* experience in using Arc Geographic Information System software and its applications, including methods, techniques and practice of Geographic Information System (GIS);
• Recent* experience in data transformation techniques and processes as well as current technology used to create, store, manipulate and disseminate data.
* Recent experience is defined as experience acquired approximately within the last three (3) years.

Graduation with a diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in Geographical Information System (GIS).

• Experience in application development, application testing, infrastructure operations, enterprise architecture, cloud migration, or cybersecurity.
