Work environment

This is an "embedded position" located at the University of Victoria in Queenswood.

Intent of the process

The intent of this selection process is to staff immediately one (1) English Essential position for an indeterminate period in Victoria, BC.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established to staff similar positions within Environment and Climate Change Canada across Canada with various requirements, various security clearance levels as well as various tenures, according to the position being staffed.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in computer science, physical sciences, engineering, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed OR an acceptable combination of *education, training and experience.
(*Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.)

Degree equivalency

Experience leading a team in an *IT environment.
(*"IT" means information technology)

Experience supervising human resources including employees, students or contractors and managing financial resources such as preparing budget or advising on procurement.

Experience developing and delivering presentations or briefings, and representing a team in discussions with clients or stakeholders or external partners or senior management.

Experience in supporting and advising users on high-performance scientific computing platforms.

Experience with configuration and deployment of containerization technologies such as Kubernetes, Open Shift, Open Stack, etc.

Experience related to the use of and development with a variety of Open Source toolsets, including experience programming in Python or ‘R’.

**Recent experience in parallel programming on high-performance computing systems, including MPI programming in Fortran.

**Recent experience in developing *IT technical documents or procedures.
