The intent of this process is to staff one indeterminate position at the Canadian Coast Guard College located in Sydney, NS.
**Important: Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Fisheries and Oceans Canada and the Canadian Coast Guard are actively working on a flexible, phased approach for the safe return of employees to their usual workspaces. Organizational needs may require that duties be performed on site where safe procedures and operations have been established.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada OR registered as an engineer in training in Canada.
The term "eligibility" for certification or membership in a professional association means that a candidate has met all academic and occupational requirements with respect to degrees, examinations, experience, etc. without having to have obtained or maintained actual registration, certification or membership.
EXPERIENCE:
1) *Significant experience working in a multidisciplinary engineering environment related to construction or maintenance of infrastructure. Candidate must have been responsible for at least 2 of the following: engineering design calculations, construction drawings, writing of technical specifications, cost estimates, project management.
*Significant is defined as the depth and the breadth of experience that would be acquired with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience following graduation in civil engineering.
2) Experience in evaluating architectural or engineering reports, analyzing results and recommending implementation options in support of infrastructure investment or rehabilitation initiatives.
3) Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and managing key stakeholders expectations.
EXPERIENCE (ASSET)
Experience working with Auto CAD.
Formal training or certification in Project Management.
Experience working with indigenous communities.
Experience with Energy Management.
Experience in the design, construction, rehabilitation, repair, or maintenance of
marine infrastructures or experience in a field of engineering which would
contribute to the conduct of these activities.
